Descriptions
Provides financial assistance for individuals, families and small businesses. Financial assistance is only available for losses not covered by insurance. That occurred in an area covered by a disaster declaration by the President of the United States. Declaration often takes time. Disaster survivors are encourage to first seek out local resources. If a disaster is federally declared, FEMA may provide financial assistance for:
- Necessary home repairs
- Emergency assistance for mortgage and rent
- Home replacement
- Other needs such as medical, dental, funeral, personal property, transportation, moving and storage, and other expenses that are authorized by law
Federal resources for disaster survivors can apply visit Disaster Assistance. Resources may include shelter, food, and first aid.

Eligibility
Individuals affected by a natural disaster that is declared by the U.S. President; if one has insurance, one must file a claim with insurance company.
