Program: SCE CARE/FERA ENERGY DISCOUNT PROGRAMS

Agency: SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON (SCE)

Description

Provides two types of discount programs to qualifying SCE customers.

CARE: The California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE) program provides qualifying individuals and households of two or more receive up to 32.5% off their electric bills

FERA: The Family Electric Rate Assistance (FERA) plan offers qualifying families and households of three or more receive an 18% discount on their electric bills.

Eligibility

Based on income and household size or enrollment in public benefit program.

Effective June 1, 2024 to May 31, 2025 income limits are as follows:

CARE: Household Size / CARE Income Eligibility Upper Limit

1-2 people $40,880

3 people $51,640

4 people $62,400

5 people $73,160

6 people $83,920

7 people $94,680

8 people $105,440

Each Additional Person: $10,760

FERA: Household Size / FERA Income Eligibility Lower and Upper Limits

1-2 people Not eligible

3 people $51,641 - $64,550

4 people $62,400 - $78,000

5 people $73,161 - $91,450

6 people $83,921 - $104,900

7 people $94,681 - $118,350

8 people $105,441 - $131,800

Each Additional Person $10,760 - $13,450

Additionally, you may qualify for CARE if you or someone in your home participates in one of the following public assistance programs:

-Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance

-CalFresh/SNAP (food stamps)

-CalWorks (TANF)/Tribal TANF

-Head Start Income Eligible (tribal only)

-Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

-Medi-Cal/Medicaid

-Medi-Cal for Families (Healthy Families A&B)

-National School Lunch Program (NSLP)

-Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

-Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)

-Upper Limit Calculation = 250% of Federal Poverty Guideline
