Program: SCE MEDICAL BASELINE ALLOWANCE PROGRAM

Agency: SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON (SCE)

Description

Provides an extra 16.5 kilowatt hours of electricity per day at the lowest baseline rate to help with the cost of operating necessary medical equipment. Program is available to individuals who require the regular use of electrically powered medical equipment or other qualifying medical devices. Offers additional notifications during PSPS events.

In the event of a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) event, SCE will send a representative to your home to make contact if they are unable to reach you by your preferred method of contact.

SCE offers other discounted rate programs.

Devices used for therapy, but not medically required for sustaining life do not qualify.

Application is available in Spanish, Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, Cambodian, and Tagalog

Eligibility

Must be a SCE residential customer with a household member who:

. Requires the regular use of any electrically powered medical/life support equipment (see partial list below) that mechanically or artificially sustains life or restores or replaces a vital physical function, including mobility, and/or

. Are temperature sensitive and require air conditioning, and/or

quadriplegic, or hemiplegic, or

. Has a life-threatening illness or compromised immune system or other condition that requires heating and/or cooling.

Application Process

Enroll online application or download, print, complete and mail application.
A medical professional (Medical Doctor, Doctor of Osteopathy, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practioner) will need to confirm the medical condition.
Contact directly for any questions about qualifying medical device or other related products or services.
