Program: PUBLIC/CONVENTIONAL HOUSING- ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS (FEBURARY 2025)

Agency: HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF SAN BUENAVENTURA (HACSB)

Description

Provides low rent public housing in the City of Ventura, ranging in size from 1 bedroom to 4 bedrooms. Rent is established according to gross total income for all members of the household. The rent is approximately 30% of adjusted household income.

Waitlists for the following properties are offline and the printable applications can be found on the links attached:

  • Encanto Del Mar (Family, Affordable)
  • Rancho Verde (USDA Farm Worker Housing)

Note: The ESTIMATED waiting time ranges from 8 to 10 years. Before receiving assistance, all applicants are interviewed in order to establish their eligibility.

Eligibility

All applicants are interviewed and the following is required of all applicants:

-Must meet income guidelines set by Housing Authority (found on website)

-Must pass a criminal background investigation, both local and nationwide.

-Must pass a credit report inquiry (if necessary).

-Must prove minimum of a five-year rental history.

-Provide acceptable residency history

Note: Families, senior citizens 62 years of age or older, and disabled/handicapped individuals have priority over single individuals.

Application Process

Visit the website for information on how to apply for waitlists on open properties.

Documents

-Birth Certificates for all family members.
-Social Security Card for all family members.
-Driver's License or ID Card for all family members 18 yrs. of age or older.
-Copy of Alien Registration Card (front and back) if applicable.
-Authorization form to Obtain Records signed by all family members 18 yrs. of age and older.
-Current proof of residency (lease, utility bill, income verification, driver's license, ID, or bank statement).
-Current income verification.

Fees

No fee to apply. Clients pay a sliding scale 30-40% of household income towards rent.
