Descriptions
Provides a foul-weather shelter for individuals suffering from homelessness in Ventura County. Offers shelter for up to 20 vulnerable individuals of the homeless population in a local motel. Individuals 65 years of age and older and/or with chronic health conditions are prioritized. Remaining rooms are on a first-come first-served basis. Provides "stay warm packs" for individuals who are unable to get a room through the program.
Shelter operates when overnight weather projects over half an inch of rain or temperatures under 40 degrees. Shelter will run tentatively from December 1st, 2024 through March 31st, 2025.

Application Process
Individuals desiring shelter must arrive no earlier than 5pm and no later than 6pm on the day of the weather event. Staff will do initial intake and screening of individuals. Once the formal intake is completed, if individuals are accepted into shelter there will be transportation to take them to their room. If individuals are not accepted for shelter they will be provided with a "stay warm pack."

Hours
Shelter operates during periods of extreme cold weather or rain.
Individuals need to arrive by 5pm on the day the Foul Weather Shelter is activated and will be transported to the motel via bus with a group of others, check out will be by 8am the following morning.
