Supporting Children During COVID-19

Help children find positive ways to express feelings such as fear and sadness. Every child has their own way to express emotions. Sometimes engaging in a creative activity, such as playing, and drawing can facilitate this process. Children feel relieved if they can express and communicate their feelings in a safe and supportive environment.

Domestic Violence

Avoiding public spaces and working remotely can help to reduce the spread of COVID-19, but for many survivors, staying home may not be the safest option. Any external factors that add stress and financial strain can negatively impact survivors and create circumstances where their safety is further compromised. If you’re a friend or family member of someone experiencing abuse, you may not be able to visit them in person if you live in an area where there are COVID-19 cases. Seeing someone you care about being hurt is stressful. Remind yourself that you can’t make decisions for someone else, but you can encourage your loved one to think about their wellbeing, safety plan and practice self-care while they are in their home. For any victims and survivors who need support, call 1-800-636-6738, or if you’re unable to speak safely, you can text your zip code to 898-211.

Coronavirus Stimulus Payments - Recovery Rebates/Economic Impact Payments ("Checks From Federal Government")

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act authorized stimulus payments to be made to many people in the U.S. The distribution of economic impact payments will begin mid-April and will be distributed automatically, with no action required for most people. The payments are available to many people, even people who do not make enough money to file taxes usually. People who are undocumented, lack Social Security numbers, file with an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number, or adults who were claimed as dependents are not eligible. The amount of these payments varies depending on your financial situation. More information and FAQs here : https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/get-my-payment

Tax filers with adjusted gross income up to $75,000 for individuals and up to $150,000 for married couples filing joint returns will receive the full payment. For filers with income above those amounts, the payment amount is reduced by $5 for each $100 above the $75,000/$150,000 thresholds. Single filers with income exceeding $99,000 and $198,000 for joint filers with no children are not eligible.

Most individuals will automatically receive their Economic Impact Payment, according to the IRS. This includes those who have filed federal income tax for 2018 or 2019; those who receive Social Security retirement, disability (SSDI), survivor benefits, or Supplemental Security Income (SSI); Veterans Affairs (VA) benefit recipients; and those who receive Railroad Retirement (RRB-1099)benefits.
Dependents older than 16 are not counted when calculating a household’s payment amount. Households will be required to have filed 2019 or 2018 tax returns to receive $500 per eligible child because SSA-1099 does not track information about dependents.

The payments are available to many people, even people who do not make enough money to file taxes usually. People who are undocumented, lack Social Security numbers, file with an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number, or adults who were claimed as dependents are not eligible.

Mixed-status households, which include those with ITINs on their tax return, will not receive an Economic Impact Payment.

THE IRS WILL NOT CALL ASKING PEOPLE FOR INFORMATION. THIS IS A SCAM
