Paratransit is individually scheduled transportation service, most often for older adults and individuals with disabilities in which passengers schedule pick up and drop off points. For many paratransit services the user must have an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Certification.
What is ADA Certification: The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a federal law which provides comprehensive civil rights entitlements for individuals with disabilities, including the guarantee of equal access to public transportation. ADA Certification shows that the individual is eligible for specialized transportation services under the ADA.
Requirements for ADA Certification: The individual must have a temporary or permanent disability that prevents the rider from using fixed route bus service. Certification may be given for conditions including seizure disorder, developmental issues, mobility issues, nerve condition, vision and/or hearing issues.
How to apply for ADA Certification: Individuals seeking ADA certification can complete an application online at https://www.goventura.org/getting-around/ada-certification/ or call 888-667-7001 to apply.
